EHS looked up EPA numbers and found cleaner to be 10 minute contact time and for residential use only. Oxivir Tb disinfectant in storage room found and EPA number listed 1 minute contact time. EHS recommends using Oxivir Tb as disinfectant. Bathing facilities shall be provided, maintained and kept clean. Shared bathing equipment that has contact with patient`s skin shall be cleaned with detergent and an EPA registered hospital disinfectant between patient uses. A supply of cleaning and disinfectant agents shall be accessible to bathing areas. Supply disinfectant in the bathing facilities.

Disinfectants found in facility include; Oxivir Tb Disinfectant EPA # 70627-56 Contact time of 1 minute. Topaz Disinfectant 30-17 EPA #10324-58-69204 Contact time of 10 minutes Pinesol Cleaner EPA# 5813-101-67619 is Residential use with contact time of 10 minutes. EHS recommends using premade Oxivir Tb disinfectant.
Recommend locking housekeeping carts with chemicals, cleaners and disinfectants if carts will be left in hallways for patients in memory car unit to access.

The HVAC unit vents and filters in all rooms checked needed cleaning, the filters were dusty and there was some cleaning needed on the vent covers and inside of the vent duct work. In room 1038, there was some exposed metal from the ventilation system that had excess condensation and was dripping onto the floor, insulation may be needed on the duct work to prevent condensation from forming.

the plastic cups on two medicine carts were stacked above the plastic rim on the cart. The plastic spoons and forks on two medicine carts were stored with the food contact surfaces up. The plastic utensils were inverted with the handles up and the extra cups were removed that were stacked too high. A cup of opened apple sauce was sitting on top of a medicine cart without someone standing at the cart. This should be protected and stored inside the medicine cart. Foods and utensils shall be handled properly.
