The backwash pit has a board over it to prevent someone from falling into the pit but the wood cover causes water to splash out on the to floor in the equipment room. Equipment is to be kept in a dry, well ventilated enclosure. A grate or other covering that will allow water to flow into the back wash pit instead of splash out into the equipment room needs to be installed.
